7 – Percorso delle calchere

Il sentiero è caratterizzato dalla presenza lungo il tragitto di alcune calchère, forni di origine antica ove un tempo si produceva la calce. Il percorso inizia all’ingresso del paese di Castellano. Superato l’abitato di Castellano, si prosegue per una strada pianeggiante da cui si possono ammirare le vette sovrastanti (catena Stivo-Cornetto). Giunti alla casa colonica di Marcoiano, proprio all’ingresso del bosco, è possibile soffermarsi presso una calchèra. Il sentiero prosegue attraverso la “selva di Daiano” caratterizzata dalla presenza di numerose piante secolari e protette (faggi, tigli). Superato il palazzo di Daiano, la strada attraversa la parte alta del bosco sino al “Capitel de Doera”, all’ingresso della magnifica Valle di Cei. Seguendo le indicazioni si raggiunge la conca di Prà dall’Albi. Scendendo nel bosco è possibile vedere i resti della “Calchèra Alta” mentre i ruderi di un’altra si trovano nei pressi del “Prà Lonc”. La strada nel bosco, realizzata per il trasporto della legna, conduce alla Peschiera. Lungo il tranquillo rio si esce dal bosco e in pochi minuti si raggiunge la località “Daient”, da cui si ritorna a Castellano percorrendo il percorso iniziale.

Der Pfad ist von einigen Kalköfen (Calchere) den Weg entlang gekennzeichnet, wo man einmal Kalk produzierte.Die Route beginnt am Anfang vom Dorf Castellano. Nach Castellano läuft man auf einen flachen Weg weiter, woher man die beherrschenden Gipfel (Bergkette Stivo-Cornetto) beobachten kann. Wenn man das Bauernhaus „Marcoiano“ (Casa colonica di Marcoiano) gleich beim Anfang des Waldes erreicht, ist es möglich, sich bei einem Kalkofen zu halten. Der Pfad geht durch den Wald von Daiano (la selva di Daiano) weiter, die von die Anwesenheit von verschiedenen jahrhundertealten und geschützten Pflanzen (Buchen, Linden) gekennzeichnet ist. Nach dem Palast von Daiano führt der Weg durch das obere Teil des Waldes bis zu Capitel de Doera, am Anfang vom wunderbaren Ceital. Wenn man die Anweisungen folgt, erreicht man das Becken von Prà dall’Albi. Abwärts durch das Wald ist es möglich, die Ruinen vom „Calchera Alta“ („Oberer Kalkofen“) anzuschauen. Die Ruine eines anderen liegen in der Nähe von „Prà Lonc”. Der Weg im Wald, der zum Verkehr von Holz realisiert wurde, leitet zum Peschiera, einem kleinen künstlichen Staudamm. Das ruhige Flüsschen entlang kommt man den Wald heraus und nach wenige Minuten erreicht man das Ort „Daient“, woraus man zurück nach Castellano auf den anfänglichen Route läuft.

Along this particular route you will find the limekilns, where quicklime was produced.The route starts at the entrance to Castellano village. After crossing the village, take the plain road, along which you have a chance to admire Stivo-Cornetto mountain peaks. When you reach colonial house of Marcoiano, right before you enter the forest, you may observe a limekiln. The road continues across Daiano forest, rich in beeches and lindens, which are secular and thus protected. After passing in front of Daiano palace, the road goes through the upper part of the forest getting to “Capitel de Doera”, situated at the mouth of magnificent Cei Valley. Follow the indications to reach a basin of Prà dall’Albi. Getting down into the forest you will find the ruins of “Calchera Alta” Upper Limkiln. You will find the ruins of another one near “Prà Lonc”. The forest road, built for transporting of the logs, leads to Peschiera – Fishpond area. Following the quiet stream you will get out of the forest and reach “Daient” area in a few minutes, getting back to Castellano by the same way.
